Betty Cummings Cook, CG (Certified Genealogist
and descendant of John P. Cummings): "This
graveyard appr. 40 graves apparent only because
of sunken places. The land was formerly
owned by Lewis Burdette in the 1850's and 1860's. It
believed most of the early graves are of his
family and neighbors. The land was owned at
one time by a Gosnell who fenced the cemetery
because earlier owners had allowed cattle to
knock down the stones. It is said the stones
were carried away from the graveyard. |
