Mrs. Lucille Newton, 88 years of age, of the Custer/Big Spring area, died Wednesday, June 30,1999, at Medco Center of Hardinsburg, following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Newton was the daughter of the late Coleman Bridwell and Ada Lockard. She was born November 23, 1910, in Custer. She was a homemaker, a member of the Custer United Methodist Church and the Custer Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. Her husband, J.W. Newton, preceded her in death in 1974, as well as a son, Jerry Newton, in 1996. Survivors are two grandchildren, Michael Newton of Alabama, and Sara Dunham of California; a sister, Helena Miller, Big Spring; a brother, Elvis Bridwell, Louisville, and three great-grandchildren.
