He was born in Kingswood, in Breckinridge County on January 7, 1940. Edgar retired from Texas Gas Transmissions, and attended Kingswood Wesleyan Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served during the Vietnam Era in South Korea. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, gardening, and was described as a "Tinkerer". He was preceded in death by his father, Billy MacDONALD. KEESEE had gone to the farm house to check on Everett MATTINGLY's welfare, and discovered the body. MATTINGLEY's home was in a remote area on the farm. Authorities had to have snow cleared on the road to the home before they could investigate. Sheriff Kennedy took Coroner Bob Roades and Deputy Coroner Tim Bandy to the homestead in a 4-wheel-drive vehicle. Kennedy said 69-year-old MATTINGLY was found lying across a bed with a shotgun in his left hand. His death was caused by an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Born in Hardinsburg on February 15,1957, Mr. Mattingly was a son of the late James E. Mattingly and Myra Pauline Emery Mattingly. He was a member of the Park Avenue Baptist Church in Nashville. Surviving are his wife, Donna Mattingly; a son, Anthony Alien Mattingly, Cloverport; a daughter, Jimmie Marie Mattingly, Irvington; two grandchildren, Serenity Ditto and Christina Ditto, Irvington, and a half-brother, Paul Mattingly, Louisville. Mrs. McAdams was born August 10, 1902 in the High Plains Community of Breckinridge County, a daughter of the late Courtland L. Trent and Minnie Bruner. She was the retired owner of Trent & Simmons Building Supplies in Irvington, was a member of the Irvington United Methodist Church where she was organist for many years, and was also a member of the Ambrose Meador Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving are a daughter, Madalyn Monroe, Millersville, GA; a son, Rev. Emil McAdams, Louisville; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Snyder, Jr. Seriously Injured, Now In Hospital --- Tragedy again came to citizens of this county when William Davis McDONALD was instantly killed, and P.H. Snyder, Jr., seriously injured, when a truckload of saw logs, which they were hauling, was struck by a fast train at Clark, Indiana, about 5 o'clock Thursday afternoon (October 24, 1940). The logs were being hauled from this county, the truck having passed through Hardinsburg a few hours previous. The highway ran diagonally across the track, and it is believed that the young men riding in the cab failed to hear the approaching train. Both were thrown from the cab, and both sustained skull fractures and other injuries. The body of McDONALD was brought to the R. T. Dowell Funeral Home, Hardinsburg, and prepared for burial; later being moved to the home of his father-in-law, Herman NILES at Westview, Ky.
