Unknown Kentucky Newspaper dated Sept-1973 DAN FENTRESS KILLED IN TRUCK ACCIDENT --- Dan FENTRESS, age 38, of Westview, Ky., died at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 1973, at the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital in Hardinsburg, Ky, of internal injuries received in a one vehicle accident on Highway 1740. The accident occurred only a short time before his death. Deputy Sheriff Bobby Patterson said the accident was apparently caused when the hydraulic oil tank on the dump truck he was driving fell in front of the right rear tire, causing the truck to overturn. FENTRESS was thrown from the truck which overturned on him. FENTRESS was Democratic County Chairman at the time of his death, and had served as County Campaign Manager for Wendell Ford during his gubernatorial race. He was engaged in farming, and was the owner of a trucking business. Born February 21, 1933, in Mooke, Mr. Fenress was a son of Mrs. Bertha Tucker Fentress of Dyer, and the late Homer Fentress. He was a retired welder at Campbell-Hausfield. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Peggy Fentress; two sons, Butchie Dean Fenress, New Salisbury, IN, and Penny Lee Fentress, Somerset; five sisters, Norene Lampton, Irvington; Sue McGuffin, Constantine; Wilda Carter, Hudson; Brenda Butler and Patsy Keesee, both of Dyer; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was born in Whitley County, Ky on December 29, 1936, the daughter of the late Bill and Anna Mae WILSON BUHEL. Helen was a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She retired from the Department for Community Based Services as a supervisor after many years working with families in Breckinridge County. She was a supporter of the Rainbow Girls. Helen was a soft spoken, patient, and loving woman who enjoyed traveling, fishing, and gardening. She loved her dog, Sassy. Hit by Willard Robinson, Westview. It was dark and Robinson failed to see Fentress. Robinson was on his way to Hardinsburg where he operates a restaurant. Police said Fentress apparently was killed instantly.
