CEMETERIES |
In Breckinridge County, there are believed to be roughly 600-700 cemeteries scattered about the county in various sizes and locations. The tables listed below will help identify those cemeteries and individuals buried within. Much of the information on those cemeteries has been graciously supplied by Karen Schafer and her staff at the Breckinridge County Archives in Hardinsburg. At some point pictures of tombstones/markers will be added, but for now the links below will be to the individual cemeteries and the burials within. Under the name of each cemetery will be a link to the transcription with research notes for many of the older cemeteries that are closed to burials and/or are neglected. Out of respect for the deceased and privacy of their loved ones/family, I will NOT do transcription spreadsheets for those cemeteries that are still open and actively taking burials. For any unknown cemetery you come across, please contact Karen at the Archives with as much information as possible. How many markers/field stones are present, names and dates of any individuals, and GPS coordinates and/or area would help in identifying a "lost" cemetery or a newly discovered one. She can be reached via email at either: archives (at) bbtel (dot) com or clicking the hyperlink Breckinridge County Archives.
